EVROS
The Evros river separates Greece from Turkey. It has always been a cultural crossroads. Where the East meets the West. Today, it is also one of the main gateways to Europe for migrants and refugees, with thousands of them still crossing the river every year in the hope of a better life. Sometimes at the cost of their very own.
In the current European political context even amplified by the sanitary crisis, as walls are being erected at an increased rate around the world, where states are increasingly withdrawing to their national identity, where the rise of populism is reaching new heights, it seems more necessary than ever to explore and bring back the human element at the center of the debate on immigration.
